Club sign up sheet tips for the activities fair

  • Bring two clipboards, so a line does not form behind one pen
  • Write the first meeting date and room at the top of the sheet, then post the same line on the table
  • Ask for a school email if your club writes to students there
  • Number the rows. "We have 40 sign-ups" is a good line for the next person walking by
  • Type the list up the same night, while you can still read the handwriting

Getting emails you can actually read

Handwritten emails are where lists go wrong: an l that looks like a 1, a missing letter, a smudge. Ask people to print in capitals, and read each one back while they are still at the table.

Say what they are signing up for in one line at the top, like "Monthly newsletter, about 1 email a month". People who know what to expect open the emails, and a clear line keeps your list honest about why each person is on it.
